Walnuts Topped with Corriander
Walnuts Topped with Corriander
Walnuts Topped with Coriander Quartz There are kitchen remodels and updates - and then there are Kitchen Transformations. In this installment of Kitchen Magic's Real Life Kitchen Makeovers, we bring you an example of the latter. This kitchen remodel is proof that kitchen cabinet refacing looks just like custom cabinetry, and that using it allows homeowners to enjoy luxurious kitchen designs for a fraction of the price. It's also an example of how refaced cabinets and replacement cabinets (aka: The Hybrid Solution) can be used together with seamless integration. Cabinet Refacing Makes Affordable Kitchen Transformations a Reality The owners of this kitchen enjoy sharing their love of cooking with family and friends. So, for them, a kitchen island was a "must-have." However, their current kitchen island was too short for their taste, and their solution was to purchase a makeshift add-on. The effect was a bit disjointed. To make matters worse, their original island was falling apart. This couple came to us hoping we could find a way to revamp their kitchen within a limited budget. We said, "Bring it on!" and the results speak for themselves. The Hybrid Solution This kitchen remodel called for the hybrid solution. Since the kitchen layout was to remain the same, we were able to reface all of the perimeter cabinets with Vintage Raised Panel cabinet doors in a beautiful walnut color. Then, we tore out the decrepit island and replaced it with a brand new one - extending the length so there is plenty of room for cooking, feasting, family gathering and social events. In order to keep this U-Shaped kitchen from being too dark, the owners chose a gorgeous Zodiaq Quartz countertop in Coriander. They continued that theme with a Corian Cottage Lane backsplash in an off-set diamond pattern, which adds a little texture and interest. Both the countertops and the backsplash are fabricated from non-porous and incredibly durable materials, which means they'll never have to worry about chipping, etching staining or cracking - nor will they have to worry about sealing or meticulous maintenance requirements. Switching out their appliances for stainless steel models is the icing on the cake. This kitchen went from a little bit frumpy to absolutely stunning - and we were able to do it all within a relatively modest budget. The selection of durable, high-quality materials means these homeowners will be cooking, living and playing in a kitchen design that will stand the test of time.
