Luxury Outdoor Living

Santangelo Contracting will bring luxury living to your outdoor spaces. Whether it's a beautiful poolside pergola, a relaxing outdoor sauna or a patio with a built-in fire pit—if a customer can dream it, the Santangelo team can do it, all with high-quality products and an attention to detail that can't be matched.
"We're a luxury outdoor living company," owner Michael Santangelo says. "We do patios, pergolas, pools, outdoor wellness spots, synthetic turf, dog runs—anything that's outside, but more on the upscale side of things."
Setting itself apart
The Blue Bell-based business was founded in 2019, and in just five short years it has established itself as a top regional outdoor contractor, even winning Rookie of the Year at the Philadelphia Home & Garden Show in 2024.
According to Santangelo, two things are key to his company's success—his team's attention to detail and, as a family-owned business, the fact that customers are working directly with Santangelo himself or his wife, Kerrin.
"There's a foreman on site, but as far as conception to the end of your project, I'm 100% available," Santangelo says. "It can get confusing if you're dealing with too many people. If it's the same person, everything gets communicated the proper way."
Being a family-owned and operated business also means the Santangelo Contracting team has an easier time connecting with clients. "We have an understanding of their needs," Santangelo says.
This includes recognizing the value of a dollar—especially in today's economy.
"With money being tight right now, we know how to give them a little bit more value," Santangelo says, "and some big companies don't understand that."
Project planning
When a new client reaches out to Santangelo Contracting, things start with a conversation and project renderings. The company offers these designs in 2D and 3D format—along with a virtual reality component. Clients can wear a VR headset that allows them to "walk around" the design.
"They can hear the water, the birds. They can really see the design we've done," Santangelo says. "We're the only people in the area doing that, so it's nice we can offer it for our clients."
Projects range from landscape design and installation to hardscaping and masonry. The former includes sod installation, top soiling and seeding, tree and shrub planting, mulching and fencing, whereas the latter covers everything from fire pits and pools to outdoor kitchens and water features—and so much more. Santangelo Contracting designs and installs synthetic turf—think backyard putting greens or dog runs—and can help troubleshoot, too, such as in correcting a backyard drainage issue.
Another company focus is lighting; a surefire way to add an upscale feel to an outdoor living space. Santangelo Contracting can install any lighting project imaginable: recessed lights, deck lights, lights brightening up a pathway, lights built into hardscaping, bistro lighting, spotlights; the options really are endless.
Top products
Luxury living deserves the best, and that's exactly what Santangelo Contracting delivers to its clients. The company uses state-of-the-art equipment and the best in materials and products, ensuring their projects shine.
For instance, Techo-Bloc paving products and Kennedy Blue Mountain Stone concrete products are a favorite of Santangelo's, and for good reason.
"They're companies that we feel their attention to detail and the products that they make are just heads above everything else. Their material is just top notch," he says. "And for us as installers, we like to deal with a company that has the same ethics as us. They offer a high-end product at great prices."
Always on the job
Keeping up that personal connection with clients is key to success, according to Santangelo, which is why he's out on the job sites most days of the week.
"Whether it's hands-on helping lay the pavers or talking over a change, I want to be there for the clients," he says.
Even the most carefully planned project could need changes in the moment. A client may have planned for square edges on a patio, but in seeing the project come to life they may start wondering about rounded edges.
With Santangelo and his wife at the ready, that's no problem.
"If there are decisions made on the fly," he says, "we are around to be able to do that for our clients."
